As the internet’s home of deeper, longer-form and more educational content, YouTube generally represents the better advertising option for medtech businesses, and indeed any business in a highly specialised and complex field (keeping in mind YouTube still only gives an advertiser 5-15 seconds to grab the audience’s attention).
In comparison, Instagram Reels can be a bit limiting, and may not be where your target audience resides. LinkedIn video advertising is a good option for B2B businesses, as it is home to a more relevant audience.
The default setting in Facebook Ads Manager will automatically place your ads both on Facebook and Instagram, so yes, if you don’t change this setting your Facebook ads will show up on Instagram too.
If you don’t want to advertise on Instagram, simply change the ad placement setting to Facebook only or vice versa.

Carousel ads combine a number of images or videos into a single ad that the audience can scroll through. To create an Instagram carousel ad you’ll need a Meta Business Suite account. Head to the main dashboard, then:
- Click the “Create” button in the top left of the screen.
- Choose a campaign objective that supports the carousel format.
- Fill in your basic campaign details (budget, audience, schedule, placement, etc.)
- In “Ad Setup”, choose “Carousel”.
- In “Ad Creative”, choose the images/videos you’d like to feature in the ad.
- Post your carousel ad, then analyse and optimise its performance over the course of the campaign.
Yes, Meta Business Suite makes it easy to advertise to audiences in multiple languages within a single ad campaign. In the ‘Languages’ section you first choose your default language, then you can add up to 48 other languages. Instagram will then automatically display your ad in the language that each individual user speaks.
Cost per mille (CPM) – the cost of gaining 1000 impressions for your Instagram ad – varies greatly from industry to industry, campaign to campaign. Butaccording to WebFX, 46% of advertisers have a CPM of $4 or less on Instagram.
This means that the cost to reach 10,000 target buyers would be $40, and the cost to reach 100,000 target buyers would be $400 (though Instagram may decrease the CPM rate for larger campaigns as an incentive to spend more).
In many ways Facebook and Instagram ads are very similar – they’re both controlled through Meta Business Suite, for example. But there are a few key differences.
